The Kannada film industry’s newest hit film ‘Kantara‘ is shattering records, left, right and center. Not only is the film raking in the moolah at the box office, it is also garnering considerable critical acclaim in the process. The latest record shattered by Kantara is on an internationally recognised content ratings website – yes, none other than IMDb. Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara’ has zoomed to the top of the IMDb Top 250 Indian Movies list. It is now sitting snugly right at the very top of the IMDb Top 250 – at number one position!
Not only is the achievement a matter of pride and honour for ‘Kantara’, it has shattered yet another record. ‘Kantara’ is the only Kannada film to achieve this terrific milestone. It is the only Kannada film ever to become number one on the IMDb Top 250 Indian films list. Not even recent hits KGF Chapter 2 and 777 Charlie managed to achieve what Kantara has done within a couple of weeks of release.
Earlier, Tamil film Rocketry: The Nambi Effect had also reached number one on the IMDb Top 250. Interestingly, no Bollywood film has managed to achieve the feat in some time now. In fact, so elusive is the top positions for Bollywood films that not one Hindi film has managed to make it to even the Top 10 positions on the IMDb Top 250.
