Prolific Indian filmmaker Karan Johar is all set for his directorial comeback with the upcoming romantic comedy movie titled ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the titular roles. After a spate of delays, the movie is finally slated to be released in theatres on 28th July and also features veteran actors Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi.
Prior to ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt had collaborated for Zoya Akhtar’s critically acclaimed underdog drama ‘Gully Boy’. Another interesting thing about the film is that Saif Ali Khan’s son Ibrahim Ali Khan was working with Karan Johar as the film’s assistant director.
On the occasion of Karan Johar’s birthday and the completion of 25 years as a director, the makers have revealed the first looks of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s characters from ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’.
Although nothing concrete is known about the film’s precise plot details until now, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ is said to revolve around a boy from an affluent family (played by Ranveer Singh) who falls in love with a middle-class woman (played by Alia Bhatt). But their parents are not happy with their romantic relationship. Seems like a modern-day and fresh rendition based on an age-old plot. Ranveer Singh’s first look too hints at his rich boy rockstar avatar from the film. And Alia Bhatt, as usual, looks stunning.
Alia Bhatt, who made her debut as a lead actress in Karan Johar’s ‘Student of the Year’, is still riding high after successful films like ‘Brahmastra: Part One Shiva’, ‘Darlings’, ‘RRR’, and ‘Gangubhai Kathiawadi’. However, Ranveer Singh hasn’t been in great form of late as his last two films ‘Cirkus’ and ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ turned out to be commercial failures. So, now, it would be interesting to see whether the lead pairing of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt can recreate the same magic as they did in ‘Gully Boy’.
