Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer and a Hansal Mehta directorial, ’The Buckingham Murders’ is now running in theatres but unfortunately the film has hardly any buzz over the internet.
A thrilling murder mystery, ‘The Buckingham Murders’ released today in theatres in two versions, namely, Hinglish and Hindi, to not only reach a wider audience but also preserve the film’s authenticity. But none of these tactics nor Kapoor Khan’s stardom is able to attract the moviegoers much.
That’s not it, ‘The Buckingham Murders’ is not getting enough word-of-mouth on the internet either. The overall response for the film is pretty lukewarm.
Early reviews that have poured in are praising Kareena’s incredible performance in the film and claiming it to be one of her career best. While other characters have arcs of their own, it’s Kareena’s character that remains in focus, outshining everyone else.
The film is receiving acclaim from certain quarters who are calling it a gripping whodunnit that makes you reflect on the social commentary made in the film. It is taut, tense and tragic and makes for a riveting watch.
According to certain other reviews, ‘The Buckingham Murders’ has certain flaws too, like there is a lot of obviousness in the film. Hansal Mehta has tried to create a narrative that embraces the complexity of the society and in order to accomplish that he has added multiple layers in the film and not all might fit well with the audience. Also, the background score is not going down very well with some critics.
