The year 2023 has been a pretty successful one for Karthi. The Tamil actor has been seen in both parts of Mani Ratnam’s ambitious project ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. Now the actor is all set to release his solo comedy drama ‘Japan’.
‘Japan’ is directed by Raju Murugan and has Karthi in a quirky and weird style suggesting the idiosyncrasies of the character. The character will most probably be a jewel thief and the film is about his exploits and adventures.
After ‘Japan’, the commencement of ‘Kaithi 2′ will happen soon. Karthi has confirmed that a sequel for the superhit film 2019 film is in the works and it is being planned properly. Kaithi 2 will fall under the LCU and it is a much anticipated project in the Tamil film industry.
But Karthi will be seen in many more movies apart from Kaithi 2. He will be starring in a movie directed by C. Prem Kumar. C. Prem Kumar is known for directing films like ’96’ with Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan. Karthi will be seen alongside Arvind Swami in the movie. The title has not been finalized yet.
He is also working on a fantasy actioner that is directed by Nalan Kumaraswamy. Half of the shoot is complete and there will be official announcements anytime soon. Nalanda Kunaraswamy is known for films like ‘Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum’, and ‘Soodhu Kavvum’.
Apart from these films, Karthi also wants to work with his brother Suriya in one film. Suriya too has previously expressed the desire to work with his brother as a villain. They both wait for a good script that can use the two actors suitably. Suriya’s Rolex and Karthi’s Dilli both exist in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s universe and they might confront each other in some upcoming movie.
