As Amazon’s latest Telugu feature comes close to premiering, let’s take a look at the man behind the film ‘Bheemasena Nalamaharaja’, Karthik Saragur:
Karthik Saragur is an Indian film director, screenwriter and lyricist who primarily works in the Telugu Film Industry. He started out his career by creating docudramas like ‘Vivekananda’ by Vivekananda. He received critical acclaim for his documentary series, ‘Bengaluru: idu namma ooru’. The television series on Bangalore was a 90 episodes series, talking about the famous city and its various neighbourhoods, which was presented by Suresh Moona. He has also worked in Bollywood, in the film ‘Dor’, for which he got nominated for Best Costume Design Award in the 52nd Filmfare Awards.
Karthik’s directorial debut ‘Jeerjimbe’ was a critical hit. Touching on themes of making dreams come true and the complexities of human emotion, the film is about a young girl who struggles with her emotions when she receives a bicycle as part of a free cycles programme in her locality. The film had to be crowd-funded in the beginning before it got the backing of the producer, Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah.
Karthik’s latest film ‘Bheemasena Nalmaharaja’ is a story about love and heartbreak, revolving around the themes of food. The film is about a man’s quest to get his wife to remember him through his cooking, after she gets amnesia due to an accident. According to Karthik, the film is based on the six rasas – sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent and astringent, and there will be six characters featured in the film; and they will represent the six rasas.
Karthik Saragur’s latest directorial and written feature, ‘Bheemasena Nalamaharaja’ is set to release on Amazon Prime Video, tomorrow, on 29th October 2020.
