Tamil language spy action thriller ‘Sardar‘ released across the theatres on 21st October. This Diwali special biggie is written and directed by P.S.Mithran who is famous for films like Hero and Irumbu Thirai. Sardar has been getting favourable reviews from the audience. Sardar stars Karthi in a double role while the film also marks actress Laila’s official come-back to movies after 16 long years. The digital rights of the film is bagged by Aha Video.
The film follows Inspector Vijay Prakash, a publicity-hungry officer. As he takes up on a case, he falls for Shalini, a lawyer. Later he takes up a mission to retrieve an important file that contains military secrets of the Indian Intelligence Agencies. While investigating the case, Vijay finds a mysterious connection between the file and an ex-spy named Chandrabose aka Sardar. What is Sardar’s connection to the file and Vijay (as Sardar looks like Vijay) forms the crux of the story.
Although Sardar was criticised for being too similar to the hogwash that Vikram’s spy thriller Cobra was upon trailer release, Sardar has been getting thumbs up reviews both from critics and audiences alike. It seems like Karthi has another hit on cards. Sardar’s music is composed by GV Prakash Kumar, cinematography by George C Williams and editing by Ruben. Rasshii Khanna, Rajisha Vijayan, Chunky Pandey, Murali Sharma and Munishkanth co-star Karthi and Laila in prominent roles. The film also marks Hindi film actor Chunky Pandey’s debut in Tamil Cinema. The film is expected to stream on Aha Video after 28 days streaming window. Stay tuned for more updates.
