On the occasion of Republic Day today, actor Kartik Aaryan revealed a new look from his upcoming film ‘Chandu Champion’. The picture shared by Kartik Aaryan on social media shows the actor wearing a uniform, in a contemplative mood. Chandu Champion releases in theatres in India on 14th June, 2024.
Kartik Aaryan’s uniformed first look from Chandu Champion might lead one to believe that the film is a war drama or based on the armed forces. But that is not the case. Chandu Champion is a sports drama about a forgotten Indian sportsperson, gifted with a relentless never-say-die spirit that propelled him to achieve the impossible.
The story of Chandu Champion is inspired by the real-life story of India’s forgotten hero Murlikant Petkar, the first Indian to win a Paralympic gold medalist in freestyle swimming. The plot of Chandu Champion follows Chandu, a soldier in the Indian army, who is injured in the 1965 India – Pakistan war, and forced to reconcile to life as a paraplegic.
However, the spirited armyman turns to sports as his new field of endeavor. The movie documents how he goes on to achieve laurels for the country, despite his handicap, with the Paralympics gold in freestyle swimming the crowning glory of his achievements.
Chandu Champion is written and directed by Kabir Khan. Besides Kartik Aaryan, the film features Bhuvan Arora, Palak Lalwani, Adonis Kapsalis, Anirudh Dave among others. Katrina Kaif and Shraddha Kapoor are listed in the cast on the IMDb page of Chandu Champion, though there’s no confirmation from the makers.
