2022 has been a great year so far for Indian cinephiles as fans have witnessed the release of some fine films along with their splendid box office performances. Amongst this year’s top-performing films is Prashanth Neel’s action extravaganza ‘K.G.F: Chapter 2’. The film has purportedly garnered more than Rs.700 crores at the box office. Moreover, the Hindi dubbed version had crossed the Rs.250-crore benchmark in just seven days since its release on the 14th of April.
Not just on the box-office front, ‘K.G.F: Chapter 2’ has now achieved another feat. The film has entered the top 50 international films list on the Auckland-based movies-centric social platform Letterboxd. The coveted global list comprises the top 50 narrative feature films from 2022 released until now (excluding documentaries). Currently, it’s also the highest-ranked movie on IMDb’s top 250 Indian films list.
Besides KGF-2, another Indian film that has recently entered the Letterboxd top international films list is the critically acclaimed Tamil language movie ‘Taanakkaran’. It started streaming directly on the Disney+ Hotstar OTT platform from 8th April.
Although ‘K.G.F: Chapter 2’ (Rank 19) and ‘Taanakkaran’ (Rank 30) are still behind S.S. Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ (Rank 7) and Hollywood superhero movie ‘The Batman’ (Rank 2), however, they have surpassed some international movies from 2022 like the slasher horror flick ‘X’ and Richard Linklater’s animated sci-fi movie ‘Apollo 10 1⁄2: A Space Age Childhood’.
About the films:

KGF-2 also features Sanjay Dutt as the antagonist Adheera, Raveena Tandon, and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles.
