Apple TV has dropped the first full-fledged trailer for Martin Scorsese’s buzzy film, ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’. The film stars Martin Scorsese’s favorite actors and frequent collaborators, Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Nero in primary roles.
The film recounts true-life incidents from the 1920s that rocked the US state of Oklahoma with its sordid brutality. ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ captures the true story of the murders of scores of wealthy members of the Native American community of Osage people in 1920s Oklahoma, after oil deposits are discovered on their land.
The screenplay of ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’ is adapted from the David Grann book, ‘Killers of the Flower Moon: Adapted for Young Readers: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI’. Eric Roth and Martin Scorsese have written the screenplay for the movie. The movie is a damning indictment of the ruthless greed of white capitalists, who place profits over human life.
The trailer of ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’ gives us a haunting peek into the story of the film. Martin Scorsese tells the heart-rending, spine-chilling story through the lens of a tender romance — between Oklahoma resident Ernest Burkhart (DiCaprio) and Osage woman Mollie (Lily Gladstone), who later becomes his wife. Ernest’s uncle, Bill Hale (De Niro), exhorts him to put profits before love, even as members of the Osage community are murdered under mysterious circumstances.
As the power struggle reaches a crescendo, FBI agent Tom White (Jesse Plemons) arrives at Ernest’s door to investigate the murders. The trailer for ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’ is haunting, set as it is to music that is decidedly goosebumps-inducing.
Besides the primary cast, ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ also stars Tantoo Cardinal, John Lithgow, Brendan Fraser, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, Jillian Dion, William Belleau, Louis Cancelmi, Tatanka Means, Michael Abbot Jr., Pat Healy, Scott Shepard, Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson in pivotal roles.
The official synopsis for ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’ reads – “At the turn of the 20th century, oil brought a fortune to the Osage Nation, who became some of the richest people in the world overnight. The wealth of these Native Americans immediately attracted white interlopers, who manipulated, extorted, and stole as much Osage money as they could before resorting to murder. Based on a true story, Killers of the Flower Moon is an epic western crime saga, where real love crosses paths with unspeakable betrayal”.
