Through the years, he has undoubtedly achieved the status to be called an American icon, and his words can be trusted, at least for now. On paper, he is the creator of the book, and as King’s ‘Salem’s Lot was adapted, it created some major buzz.
However, it is dealing with multiple delays, making King impatient.
Initially aiming for a September 9th release date in 2022, it was later hit by a delay, pushing it back to April 21st, 2023. And now, after the most recent delay, there is no trace of its theatrical release as ‘Salem’s Lot hangs in uncertainty.
Speculation arose that the quality of the film wasn’t promising, but King’s recent tweet debunks that theory as well.
The tweet reads, “Between you and me, Twitter, I’ve seen the new SALEM’S LOT, and it’s quite good. Old-school horror filmmaking: slow build, big payoff. Not sure why WB is holding it back; not like it’s embarrassing or anything. Who knows. I just write the fucking things.”
It wasn’t just the storyline that looked promising; the cast appeared promising as well, with faces such as Lewis Pullman, Makenzie Leigh, Alfre Woodard, Bill Camp, and John Benjamin Hickey making a good pair.
Even in terms of direction, Gary Dauberman, who already has a very promising lineup in the horror genre, won’t disappoint with ‘Salem’s Lot. And as King did show promises, it might be because of WB’s constant busy slate that can be blamed for these numerous delays.
