Film buffs in India have been waiting patiently for the Oscar-winning film ‘King Richard’ to stream on a subscription-based OTT platform in India. Well, we’re pleased to inform you that your wait is now over! King Richard is all set to begin streaming on an OTT platform in India. Will Smith‘s King Richard OTT release date is April 22, on Prime Video!
King Richard premiered in theatres in the US on November 19, 2021, along with a simultaneous release on the HBO Max streaming service. It released in Indian theatres on March 25. Now, six months after its theatrical release, King Richard will release on Indian streaming platform Prime Video. Incidentally, the film was made available as a pay-per-view watch on Book My Show Stream on 15th April, one week before its subscription-based OTT release.
King Richard is a sports biopic, directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and written by Zach Baylin. The film charts the success journey of tennis’ superstar siblings, Venus and Serena Williams. The story is told through the perspective of their father, Richard Williams, who’s also been coach, mentor and manager to the siblings in their illustrious careers. King Richards has received wide-spread acclaim from critics and audiences, for its realistic portrayal of the Williams sisters’ growing up years.
Will Smith plays the titular role of Richards Williams. The actor won the Academy Award For Best Actor for his performance. Aunjanue Ellis, Saniyya Sidney, Demi Singleton, Tony Goldwyn and Jon Bernthal form the rest of the cast. Will Smith made headlines around the globe for his infamous skirmish with host Chris Rock at the Oscars’ event. Smith slapped Rock for a tone-deaf joke the latter made on Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
