The latest trailer of ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ showcased the rise of a new ape ruler, Proximus Caesar (Kevin Durand). We do not know the exact direction in which the movie’s storyline will go. But the newest clip gives us a basic idea about what viewers should expect from the film. We know that, ultimately, it will come down to Promixus Caesar and Noa (Owen Teague), a young chimpanzee born many years after Caesar’s time.
Right from the very first film, Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011), Caesar’s primary goal was to ensure that all apes live freely and peacefully. However, Proximus Caesar is nothing like the original Caesar. He wants to use technological weapons to promote violence among other apes and hunt humans like cattle. In other words, he tries to do everything that Caesar opposes. Ultimately, we are set to witness an epic battle between the apes who believe Caesar’s opinions and teachings with all their heart and the apes who blindly follow Proximus Caesar.
In ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’, numerous ape colonies surface after Caesar’s tragic demise. His followers believe his philosophies. On the other hand, some apes from other colonies have utilised them to inflict torture and violence on weak apes and the remaining humans on the planet.
Proximus Caesar pretty much reminds us of Koba, who also hated humans. He strongly believed that apes were superior to humans in every manner and the former creatures should rule the latter by any means necessary, opposite to Caesar’s teachings.
Only one ape will rise against Proximus Caesar in ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’, and that ape is Noa, who lives under Proximus’ reign but has immense respect and care for humans. Who knows? Noa may become the next Caesar. The film will come out on May 24, 2024. Stay tuned for more updates.
