Know All About (BTS Facts Inclusive!) Netflix’s ’Sweet Tooth’ S2

Netflix has dropped the first look photos of the much awaited ‘Sweet Tooth’ season 2 and it has raised the already high anticipations people have for the show.

Developed by Jim Mickle, ‘Sweet Tooth’ is based on the 2009 DC comic book series of the same name by Jeff Lemire. The family friendly post-apocalyptic fantasy drama follows Gus (Christian Convery), a human-deer hybrid who was born at one of the most catastrophic times in history.

Ten years before the series, a mysterious virus appeared, whipping out 98% of the globe’s population and throwing society into the Great Crumble, an era of debilitating chaos. As the Great Crumble destroyed the world as we knew it, something unexplainable also happened — the birth of human-animal hybrid babies like Gus.

In season 2 of ‘Sweet Tooth’ Gus and his fellow hybrids will find new strength as they uncover the origins of the Great Crumble. Apart from this, here’s everything else you need to know about second instalment of ‘Sweet Tooth’

Storyline:

In ‘Sweet Tooth’ Season 2, a deadly new wave of the Sick is bearing down on humanity. Gus and a band of other child hybrids are held prisoner by the villainous General Abbot (Neil Sandilands) and the Last Men, a violent group of mercenaries who hunt hybrids. Abbot uses the children as fodder for the experiments of captive Dr. Aditya Singh (Adeel Akhtar); Abbot wants to find a cure and amass power, Dr. Singh simply wants to save his infected wife, Rani (Aliza Vellani).

Gus, always a hero, agrees to help Dr. Singh, thus beginning a dark journey into discovering his own origins. He may also learn more about his mother, Birdie’s (Amy Seimetz) role in the events leading up to the Great Crumble. Elsewhere, Jepperd (Nonso Anozie) and Aimee Eden (Dania Ramirez ) team up to free the hybrids, creating a partnership that will be tested as Jepperd’s secrets come to light.

Cast:

Christian Convery as Gus will return to reprise the role alongside Adeel Akhtar as Dr. Singh, Stefania LaVie Owen as Bear, Dania Ramirez as Aimee Eden, Aliza Vellani as Rani Singh, Neil Sandilands as General Abbot, Naledi Murray as Wendy, Marlon Williams as Johnny Abbot, Christopher Sean Cooper Jr. as Teddy Turtle, Yonas Kibreab as Finn Fox and James Brolin as the voice of the narrator. We will also see M3GAN fame Amie Donald as Maya Monkey in ‘Sweet Tooth’ season 2.

Crew:

Jim Mickle has developed the series and he serves as the writer, director and showrunner for the second season of ‘Sweet Tooth’. He also serves as the show’s executive producers alongside Team Downey’s Susan Downey, Robert Downey Jr., and Amanda Burrell; and Linda Moran will return as Executive Producers. Team Downey has produced ‘Sweet Tooth’ in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Apart from the above here are some behind-the-scene facts about ‘Sweet Tooth’ that make you more curious about the show:

To prepare for his role as Gus, Christian Convery trained in parkour for over two years.
The creative team worked with climate change consultants to help craft the world of Sweet Tooth realistically. Moreover, the team was heavily inspired by Jim Henson and wanted to make every element of the show look as practical and handmade as possible, including the hybrid puppets.
Gus’ deer ears are practical, and their movement was controlled by puppeteer Grant Lehmann through a handheld transmitter. Lehmann had to be so in sync with Convery’s facial expressions during filming that he couldn’t just watch him on the monitors because of the 300 millisecond delay. Lehmann had to physically follow Convery around as he filmed so he could have the ears react in time.
Orange is woven throughout the costuming and production design in the series to balance out the dark greens and browns of nature and a dystopian future. The color adds an optimistic pop, and is meant to symbolize hope.
