Netflix India does not possess a grand collection of quality shows of all genres like its US branch. But it has plenty of crime projects that are binge-worthy. Yes, the Indian branch’s collection of ‘original’ shows and movies is a big blend of marvellousness and garbage. Some of the Netflix India shows are impressive. While some of them are nothing except colossal misfires. Although, we have to admit that its arsenal of crime shows is still strong. And Ayesha Sood’s upcoming true-crime docuseries, Indian Predator: The Butcher of Delhi, may strengthen that arsenal upon arrival.
Netflix viewers are low-key excited about Indian Predator. The documentary’s trailer received an outstanding response from people. They loved the show’s cinematography, intriguing content, and scary ambience. Also, the makers did not reveal too much about the docuseries in the trailer.
Additionally, the popularity of Leena Yadav’s House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths is still intact. The majority of viewers and critics both loved the documentary. And people want the same from Indian Predator. ‘The Burari Deaths’ explored the mysterious deaths of all 11 members of the Chundawat family from Burari, Delhi. It also focused on the secretive nature of Indian families. They may look good from the outside. But no one knows what disturbing matter is plaguing them.
People’s obsession with true crime shows or documentaries has developed in the last few years. For example, ‘Inventing Anna’ received more than 77 million hours of viewing in its opening week on Netflix. Also, the British true-crime documentary, The Tinder Swindler, received over 45.8 million hours of watching time. So, we can expect a pretty good opening from the Indian Predator series.
People find it intriguing to dive deep into a criminal’s psyche. What does he/she think before committing a crime? True crime shows explore this scenario and provide new angles to viewers. Plus, they show the darker sides of humanity and warn viewers to maintain a safe distance from strangers. Also, makers of true crime shows are well aware of viewers’ emotional investment. If people get invested in their products, it means that they have done an excellent job.
Indian Predator may contain all the elements mentioned above. Will it surpass ‘The Burari Deaths’ documentary in terms of quality and prominence? Only time will tell us. It will hit the Netflix streaming service on July 20. Stay tuned for more updates.
