Korean film ‘Badland Hunters’ premieres soon on streaming. The dystopian drama film will premiere on Netflix worldwide, on 26th January, 2024. ‘Badland Hunters’ is a sequel to last year’s hit Korean film ‘Concrete Utopia’. The cast and crew, however, is completely different.
Interestingly, while Concrete Utopia was a theatrical release, ‘Badland Hunters’ is a Netflix original film, commissioned especially by the streaming giant, to cash in on the success of Concrete Utopia. ‘Badland Hunters’ picks up from the events of Concrete Utopia, which centred on the aftermath of a massive earthquake that devastated Seoul. In Badland Hunters, the earthquake has transformed Seoul into a dystopian wasteland, where only lawlessness rules.
Badland Hunters stars Ma Dong-seok, Lee Hee-joon, Lee Jun-young and Roh Jeong-eui in pivotal roles. The film is helmed by debutant director Heo Myeong Haeng. Ma Dong-seok plays Nam-san, a relentless wasteland hunter. Lee Hee-joon plays Yang Gi-su, a doctor who survived the earthquake. Lee Jun-young plays Choi ji-wan, Nam-san’s trusted partner. Roh Jeong-eui essays the role of Suna, a bold girl who follows Nam-san. Finally, An Ji-hye plays Eun-ho, a special forces sergeant.
The official synopsis of ‘Badland Hunters’ reads – “After a major earthquake, Seoul, South Korea, transforms into an apocalyptic wasteland where everything from civilization to law and order has collapsed.”
