Acclaimed Tamil film Kuthiraivaal is coming soon on Netflix. The film is written by G. Rajesh and co-directed by Manoj Leonel Jahson and Shyam Sunder making their directorial debuts. The film will stream on Netflix India from April 20,22.
The film was praised for it’s magical realism with scenes where there’s man with a horse tail, horse without a tail and a sky with both sun and moon appearing simultaneously etc. It is said that the movie is one of the very few Tamil Films to have used magical realism as a story-telling-template.
The film also made history when it became the first Indian film to internationally premiere at the Berlin critics film festival. Loosely inspired by Franz Kafka’s novella “The Metamorphosis” follows Saravanan who works as a cashier in a bank. Things turn bizarre when one day he wakes up to see a horse without a tail, and a sky with both the sun and moon at the same time. He then realises to have grown a mysterious horse’s tail after waking up. He then sets out on a journey to find the meaning behind this mysterious tail.
The film’s score was composed by Martin Visser and songs by Pradeep Kumar. The film stars Kalaiyarasan in the lead with Anjali Patil, Sowmya Jaganmurthy, Anand Sami and Chetan in major roles.
