The trailer for Laapataa Ladies is now out. The movie directed by Kiran Rao has been in buzz since last year but finally, we are going to see it on the big screens. In the post-COVID era, social comedy films seem to be a thing of the past. But, Laapataa Ladies seems to be a fresh offering from the industry.
The small trailer already talks about so many issues such as patriarchy, corruption and bride abandonment. It has so many subtle things in a single trailer and that is really well packed.
The movie stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Ravi Kishan and Chhaya Kadam in lead roles. The movie is directed by Kiran Rao who is returning to the director’s chair after her 2011 advent Dhobi Ghat.
The movie is set in a rural area where a boy brings her newlywed wife home. As she opens her veil, he realises that the bride has been exchanged and it is some other girl. Also, the original bride is actually lost and the exchanged one is highly suspicious in the eyes of police and family. The trailer is filled with humour and unsettling events and it is proof big enough of how the film got such rave reviews from so many film festivals. Anyways, the movie is set for a March 1st release. Let’s see the audience reception.
