Kiran Rao is ready to make her comeback in film direction with Laapataa Ladies. She opened her movie helming account with Dhobi Ghat (available on Netflix) in 2010. The film starred Aamir Khan, Monica Dogra, Prateik Babbar, and many more and turned out to be an average grosser despite earning critical acclaim. Now, she is all set to step back into the field of film direction. She will jointly produce her upcoming directional with Khan.
According to a report by IANS, the events of Laapataa Ladies will take place in the 2000s in a rural Indian region. The shocking disappearance of two brides turns everything into chaos in this film.
The film’s teaser will be reportedly released in theatres alongside Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha on August 11.
Ravi Kishan, Sparsh Shrivastava, and Chhaya Kadam have important supporting roles in the film. And viewers will see new faces portraying the characters of the disappeared brides. The makers are yet to disclose their names.
Sneha Desai will pen down the film’s screenplay. On the flip side, Divyanidhi Sharma has been chosen to write the film’s dialogues. The duo of Aamir Khan Productions and Kindling Productions will bankroll the project.
Kiran Rao has also served as one of the producers of Aamir’s LSC. The latter is the official Hindi remake of Tom Hanks’ classic, Forrest Gump. Apart from the leading man, moviegoers will see Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, and Naga Chaitanya in the movie. Stay tuned for more updates.
