BBC Studios India and ITV Studios have inked a unique deal wherein the two studios will co-produce shows which they will adapt for the Indian market.
As per reports, the deal includes adaptation of four ITV Studios dramas that include ‘Gold Digger’, ‘Sticks and Stones’, ‘Trauma’ and ’35 Days’. Apart from adapting these shows into Hindi, BBC Studios will venture into the regional markets of Tamil and Telugu as well.
Talking about how British dramas work well in the Indian market Sameer Gogate, general manager of BBC Studios India Productions said, “British dramas really resonate with Indian audiences, as we have seen with the success of ‘Criminal Justice’ and ‘Doctor Foster’ and will see with these ITV Studios dramas, which have all the twists and turns of a gripping story that you could hope for. I am looking forward to reproducing them for the Indian market and developing a deeper relationship with our British TV counterparts, with our shared mission to ale exceptional premium content to the rest of the world.”
‘Criminal Justice‘ and ‘Out Of Love‘ (‘Doctor Foster’) are the previous two dramas that have been adapted for Disney+Hotstar. Currently, ‘Luther’ remake starring Ajay Devgn is in the works, also for Disney+Hotstar.

There is a real demand for this type of material, not just in India but in Indian-speaking communities around the world.”
