Ozark is all set to grace our screens for one final time. And with it, it gives us another actor-turned director. As per a Deadline report, Laura Linney, who plays the character of Wendy Byrde, is set to make her directorial debut with an episode in Season 4 Part 2.
Laura Linney is already an acclaimed actress and singer. She has won two Golden Globe awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards. She has been nominated for the Academy Awards as well – thrice. She has been nominated as the Best Lead Actress at the Primetime Emmy’s for her performance in Ozark as well. She now adds one more feather to her cap – Direction.
Linney is said to be directing the 11th episode of Season 4. Ozark has in the past had directors who are also actors. Traditionally, the first two episodes of a season are directed by actor Jason Bateman (who is also a producer on the show). He has directed episodes in the first three seasons but stepped away from this role in Season 4. Robin Wright (Claire Underwood in House of Cards), another notable actor, directed the final two episodes of Ozark Season 4 Part 1. However, both Bateman and Wright had experience in direction prior to Ozark.
Final episodes of Ozark drop on Netflix on April 29. It stars Jason Bateman and Laura Linney as Marty and Wendy Byrde, a married couple who move their family to the Lake of the Ozarks for money laundering. Apart from Bateman, Linney too serves as a co-exec producer on the series. Last week, Netflix released the trailer for the final part.
Over the years, in addition to the actor-turned-directors, Ozark has seen some top-notch talent in the director seat. Alik Sakharov, who has directed episodes of Game of Thrones and House of Cards to name a few, is one of the many directors to have been on board for this Netflix hit. Laura Linney finds herself in elite company.
