Just a week ago, celebrated singer-actor Kishore Kumar’s birth anniversary was celebrated by fans across the world. And earlier today, it was reported that the legendary singer’s family members have ostensibly decided to helm a biopic on Kishore Kumar’s life story. And the man who has taken up the arduous job of directing the ambitious film is none other than Kishore Kumar’s son and a gifted and renowned singer in his own right – Amit Kumar.
Many Indian filmmakers have previously expressed their keen interest in bringing alive the life story of Kishore Kumar on the screen. These include ‘Barfi’ director Anurag Basu and ‘Vicky Donor’ director Shoojit Sirkar. It was also reported that Anurag Basu had also zeroed in the supremely talented performer Ranbir Kapoor for playing the central role. However, due to certain reasons and alleged legal complications, things could not move forward at that time.
If the recent reports are to be believed, then the work on the much-anticipated biopic including family interviews, etc. will commence soon, after which filming would begin. The film’s development might just be in the initial stage so the whole process might take some time.
Regarding the biopic, Amit Kumar had stated that: “It was always my intention that we do the biopic. After all, who knows him (Kishore Kumar) better than his family? We’re about to start shooting interviews with our family about my father.”
Once the scripting stage is done, the extremely important aspect of casting the lead actor, who would essay Kishore Kumar’s role will come into play. At one point in time, Ayushmann Khurrana had also ostensibly expressed his desire to play the coveted role. Whether it would be Ranbir Kapoor or Ayushmann Khurrana or any other actor will be decided by the makers in due course. Meanwhile, stay tuned to Binged for further updates on Kishore Kumar’s biopic.
