The Auckland-based movies-centric social platform Letterboxd has just revealed its top 50 movies list (including documentaries) of 2023. The international films list has been topped by the romantic drama movie ‘Past Lives’ (Rank 1) followed by the upcoming John Wick sequel ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ (Rank 2).
Other popular Hollywood films which made it to the coveted Letterbox’s top 50 films of 2023 include the Netflix documentary ‘Pamela, A Love Story’ (Rank 8), slasher horror flick ‘Scream VI’ (Rank 20), Michael B. Jordan’s boxing drama ‘Creed III’ (Rank 23), ‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ (Rank 41), and the computer screen thriller ‘Missing’ (Rank 31), amongst others.
As far as Indian cinema is concerned, some recently released Indian films have also been included in the Letterboxd 2023 top 50 list. Disney+ Hotstar’s critically acclaimed family drama movie ‘Gulmohar’ (Rank 36) starring Manoj Bajpayee and Sharmila Tagore has made an impressive debut on the Letterboxd latest list.
Moreover, the hard-hitting drama ‘Iratta’ (Rank 48) starring Joju George in a double role has also cracked the Letterboxd top 50 list. Besides, other Indian films which have made it to the Letterbox 2023 list are Mammootty’s thought-provoking bilingual drama ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam’ (Rank 5), Achal Mishra’s 50-minute Maithili drama ‘Dhuin’ (Rank 11), the family drama movie ‘Dada’ (Rank 40), and the Malayalam horror comedy ‘Romancham’ (Rank 30).
