We at Binged had informed our readers earlier that Lijo Jose Pellissery’s much-awaited Malayalam film ‘Churuli’ plans to skip theatres and release directly on OTT. We had even shared that Churuli is most likely to premiere on homegrown OTT platform, SonyLIV.
This afternoon, confirming our information, SonyLIV announced that Churuli will indeed premiere directly on its platform. SonyLIV also shared a trailer for Churuli, along with a release date for the film. Readers will be glad to know that Churuli will premiere on SonyLIV very soon, as soon as 19th November!
Churuli is the next Malayalam offering from talented director, Lijo Jose Pellissery. Film buffs know him as the creator of the seminal film ‘Jallikattu’, which was India’s official entry for the coveted Best International Feature Film Award at the Oscars 2021. Unlike Jallikattu, which was a human and social drama, Churuli falls into the genre of science fiction and suspense mystery. It centres on two cops who enter the village of Churuli to capture a notorious criminal, but get stuck in a time loop even as eerie mysteries unfold around them.
Churuli is written by S. Hareesh, directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, and stars Chemban Vinod Jose, Vinay Forrt, Joju George and Soubin Shahir in key roles.
