LJP needs no introduction. We’ve all seen his works. Everyone waited with bated breaths to know what Indian auteur Lijo Jose Pellissery was into after his critically appreciated Churuli (2021). Cinema fanatics couldn’t contain their excitement when they knew he was collaborating with the very own megastar Mammootty in his next. Titled ” Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam“, which translates into Noon Trance, the film is one of the most awaited 2022 malayalam releases. And now we have an official poster for the film with a news on teaser drop.
Actor Mammootty took to his social media to reveal the poster. Unlike the first look posters of his previous films, Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam has a very bright colour palette. There’s a painting with a sun and sky reflection projected onto water with a visible Mammootty face sketched on to the hill. The poster for sure is cryptic and we know LJP doesn’t make simple films.
“Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam” centres around Velan played by Mammootty, who leads a double life with his family in Palani: as a cycle mechanic and a thief. He escaped his hometown in Kerala following a murder. But as they say, you can’t run from your past forever. Velan’s past comes back to hunt his new-found life.
Conceptualised and directed by Lijo Jose, the film’s script is written by S Hareesh. Ramya Pandian and Ashokan also joins Mammootty in the film. This is a first-time collaboration for Lijo Jose Pellissery and Mammootty and a reunion of sorts for the star and Ashokan onscreen after 30 years.The last time Mammootty and Ashokan shared screen space was for the film Amaram, which was released in 1991.
The film is being produced by Mammootty himself under his newly launched production house, Mammootty Kampany. Theni Eswar handles the cinematography. The principal photography began on 7th November, 2021 and the film was wrapped by 7th December, 2021. We are absolutely thrilled to know more about the film. Stay tuned.
