Lionsgate Play Ups The Ante; Premieres 3 Must-Watch Titles This Weekend

Lionsgate Play is upping the ante in the Indian digital landscape. After bringing several top-notch titles such as Normal People, The Cleaning Lady, Dr. Death, Love Island, among others, for Indian viewers, it is all set to premiere three new titles this weekend, on Friday 27th August. Suffice to say, all three titles are a must-watch in their respective genres, spanning drama, thrill and true-life.

The three titles arriving on Lionsgate Play on 27th August are sibling rivalry drama ‘Heels’; true-life documentary ‘WeWork’; and heist thriller ‘Way Down’.

Heels –

Heels‘ is produced by Lionsgate TV for STARZ, in association with Paramount Television Studios. The series premiered in the USA on 15th August. It is set in the backdrop of a close-knit community in Georgia. Two brothers and rivals battle it out for their father’s legacy – a family-owned wrestling promotion. Stephen Amell (Arrow) plays Jack Spade, the hard-working older brother, who wants to reinvigorate the Duffy Wrestling League (DWL). Alexander Ludwig (The Hunger Games, Vikings) plays his younger brother, Ace, the star of the DWL, but prone to self-destructive behaviour. ‘Heels’ is written and created by Emmy Award winner Michael Waldron (Loki), directed by Peter Segal (50 First Dates), with EP Mike O’Malley (Shameless, Survivor’s Remorse) as showrunner. ‘Heels’ also stars Mary McCormick (The West Wing) and Chris Bauer (The Little Things) in pivotal roles. Streaming on 27 August 2021.

WeWork: Or the making and Breaking of a $47 Billion Unicorn –

The WeWork documentary film generated a lot of buzz when it was first announced. Written and directed by Jed Rothstein, it explores the rise and fall of WeWork – one of the biggest corporate flameouts and venture capitalist bubbles in recent years. The story follows a million-dollar real estate company run by Adam Neuman who was forced out of the company after a failed IPO. Streaming on 27 August 2021.

Way Down –

Way Down is a globe-trotting, action-packed, heist thriller. It stars Freddie Highmore (The Good Doctor) as an engineer who learns of a mysterious, impenetrable fortress hidden under The Bank of Spain. He plans a high-risk heist, along with a bunch of master thieves, to steal the legendary lost treasure locked inside while the whole country is distracted by Spain’s World Cup Final, with just minutes to pull off the heist of a lifetime. Also starring Famke Janssen (X-Men), Astrid Berges-Frisbey (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) and Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones).
Streaming on 27 August 2021.
