The post-credit scenes of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania featured the God of Mischief, Loki, and Agent Mobius M. Mobius. In that scene, the duo encountered one of Kang’s variants, Victor Timely, on Earth. This ensures that Loki Season 2 will flesh out the antics of “The next big thing in MCU after Thanos”. But Timely and other variants of Kang are not the only ones who will receive proper screen time in the upcoming Loki season. Star Owen Wilson has confirmed that Season 2 will focus on Mobius as well, apart from Kang’s variants and the protagonist himself.
Wilson revealed that the second season of Loki will dive a lot deeper into Mobius’ character than Season 1 in his recent interview with ComicBook. The actor also disclosed that Season 1 was one of his all-time best projects. “I thought I would have a good time but I really enjoyed it,” Wilson said. “I’ve been lucky working on a million movies and always having a good time but on that one, I had a really great time and that continued on Season 2.”
It is unknown how Season 2 will tackle Mobius’ return, given Season 1’s cliffhanger ending.
Fans watched Loki arriving in the wrong timeline after Sylvie’s actions resulted in a series of fractured timelines in Season 1’s finale. She stabbed He Who Remains, a variant of Kang responsible for guarding the multiverse from himself and his other variants. Loki, there, meets an Agent Mobius that does not recognise him as he is not the same Mobius the protagonist knew.
Agent Mobius first appeared in 1991’s Fantastic Four #353 comic book edition. However, the character’s popularity soared after Wilson portrayed it with near perfection in the Disney+ Loki series. Fans instantly fell in love with him. Despite looking like an ordinary high-school teacher, the character proved his worth and badassness in the show. He successfully got inside Loki’s head. But most importantly, he found a real friend in the MCU’s most likeable miscreant. This is why the character deserves more recognition in the forthcoming season.
