Lucasfilm has finally unveiled the much awaited first look and details for its popular Disney+ series ‘Andor’ season 2 at the Star Wars Celebration fan convention happening in London.
‘Andor’ season 1 debuted on Disney+ last year in September to huge acclaim and was set years before the events of ‘Rogue One’. Created and executive produced by ‘Rogue One’ co-writer Tony Gilroy, season 1 explored a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make.
The first season of the series brought forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.
In the first look unveiled for ‘Andor’ season 2 Mon Mothma is seen trying to rally a rebellion and villain Syril Karn seems to have a bigger role this time. Also, Diego Luna has a whole new hairdo in ‘Andor’ season 2 that has a lot of new characters introduced as well.
The format for season 2 is going to be different than last time and instead of taking place over a year this time the 12-episode season 2 will take place over four years leading up to right before the events of ‘Rogue One’ in three episode pods.
As per the latest update on ‘Andor’ season 2, the shooting for the series began in November last year and is expected to wrap up by August this year. The series is expected to land on Disney+ in August 2024.
Diego Luna is returning for ‘Andor’ season 2 alongside Stellan Skarsgård, Genevieve O’Reilly, Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Faye Marsay and Varada Sethu.
