Netflix‘s breakout French hit show ‘Lupin‘ has brought in the laurels for its lead star Omar Sy and the streaming giant. French star Omar Sy’s turn as the titular thief in the blockbuster show has been selected as the Performance Of The Year at the 60th Rose d’Or Awards. For those who don’t know, the Rose d’Or Awards are one of the world’s most prestigious television awards. Omar Sy will receive the Best Performance Award at the live-streamed ceremony, to be held on November 29th.
Lupin released on Netflix late last year, and became an instant hit for the platform. It also became the first French-language hit for Netflix globally. Omar Sy plays professional thief and master of disguise Assane Diop in the crime series. His motive in life is to extract revenge from the powerful Hubert Pellegrini, who had framed his father in the false theft of an expensive diamond necklace. A grown up Assane becomes the master of disguise, like his idol Lupin, and sets out to get revenge on the Pellegrini family, using his charisma and mastery of thievery, subterfuge, and disguise to expose Hubert’s crimes.
Shared Omar Sy in a statement to the media, “I am honored to receive this award and the recognition from you all. Lupin is an extraordinary adventure that travels all around the world – I am very touched and grateful.”
Two parts of Lupin have been released on Netflix as of now. The series has been renewed for a third part at Netflix.
