French actor Omar Sy will soon be seen in Netflix’s upcoming romantic comedy drama ‘French Lover’. The film will be directed by Nina Rives who is set to make her directorial debut with ‘French Lover’.
‘French Lover’ follows Abel Camara (Omar Sy), the biggest star of the moment, who crosses paths with girl-next-door Marion. Neither of them suspects this will be the beginning of a great love story.
The film is set to start production in Paris later this month and will land global on Netflix in 2025.
Alongside Omar Sy, ‘French Lover’ also stars Sara Giraudeau (‘Bernadette’), Pascale Arbillot (‘Lost Bullet’) and Alban Ivanov (‘C’est la vie’). Touted to be a high concept comedy, the film will have Sy returning to a comedy role after a series of dramas.
Well known for his comedy films like ‘Love at Second Sight’ and ‘Two Is A Family’, Hugo Gélin has been brought on board as artistic producer for ‘French Lover’. The film is produced by Zazi Films, Federation Studio France and Korokoro Productions, with the participation of TF1.
Sy became an international star with Netflix’s biggest French language hit series ’Lupin’ where in he stars as Assane Diop, a character inspired by the French story of thief Arsène Lupin. He has a multi year partnership with Netflix under which his Paris and LA based production company will develop original films for Netflix, with Sy starring in and acting as executive producer on the projects.
