The streaming platform has already commissioned Season 2 of the show, even before the series premiere on Apple TV+. Season 1 has opened to good reviews from both critics and audiences.
Servant stars Rupert Grint, Nell Tiger Free, Lauren Ambrose and Toby Kebbell in crucial roles, and has been created and written by Tony Basgallop, who is also the executive producer, alongside M Night Shyamalan. Shyamalan has directed most of the episodes.
Servant is a creepy psychological horror drama, narrating the story of a mourning couple that has lost its thirteen-month old son, but is bringing up a life-like doll in his place. If that sounds weird, even more baffling is the fact that the nanny they hire for their infant/doll doesn’t seem to care or register that the baby is just a doll.
Viewers soon realize that things are not what they seem at first sight. Spine-chilling sound effects, harrowing visuals and loaded silences add to the feeling of dread that creeps up on the viewer slowly but surely.
