Made In Heaven Row: Dalit Activist Lashes Back At Anurag Kashyap

Made In Heaven Row: Dalit Activist Lashes Back At Anurag Kashyap

Made In Heaven Season 2 is a good show that is making waves at Prime Video. The show is produced by Zoya Akhtar who is known for creating strong characters.

And it is indeed true. The characters shown in the show are indeed great and they do leave an impact on you. One such character from Made In Heaven Season 2 is that of Radhika Apte. She played the character of Pallavi Menke. The character is that of a Dalit Rights Activist who makes a big impact in the Western world through her academic success.

Did you find anything similar? Yes, if you know Yashica Dutt then you would know that the life of Pallavi Menke is very similar to that of Yashica Dutt.

Soon after the release of Made In Heaven Season 2, Yashica Dutt pointed out how she felt after the non-acknowledgment of the makers towards her. This created a sort of controversy around the show.

Soon after this, an online argument arose between Yashica Dutt and writer Sumit Baudh. Sumit labeled Yashica a ‘hypocrite’ because she didn’t acknowledge his 2007 article in her 2019 book “Coming Out as Dalit: A Memoir,” while she demanded recognition from the producers of Made In Heaven.

Now even Anurag Kashyap backed the director of the show. He stated in an interview “I get scared for people I care about when they get attacked. I have seen the entire journey of Neeraj Ghaywan and the time he took to find the courage to speak up and then I saw him get canceled in a day on social media. I got very affected by that because he got canceled by people without them understanding the issue.”

In a direct attack on Yashica, Anurag Kashyap said: “It’s a debatable issue. If it’s really that big an issue, then why are you (Yashica) attacking the other person (Sumit) who before you said ‘I used this word’? Then you are looking for validation. You are not really concerned about the issue because then you can’t be two-sided. You are attacking this guy (Neeraj Ghaywan) and you are also attacking the guy who before you said something in a blog. So, if you are only looking for validation then to me you look like an opportunist and nothing more than that. And I have seen that man (Neeraj) who found courage to be the voice, struggle, shrink because he got attacked by his very people. Then what is important in this day and age when we talk about representation? Is representation more important than self? Is yourself bigger than the representation? Because then you are a false self. You are a badge wearer. You are not really representing something and that makes me angry.”

Now, Yashica has taken a stand as she posted a long message on Instagram. She refuses to take the back seat and has accused makers of extracting her life story without any consent or information about basing that as a story.
