‘Feel Good’ is a British comedy drama series created and written by Mae Martin and Joe Hampson. The “feel good” television series premiered on Channel 4 in the UK on 18th March 2020 and then released internationally on Netflix on the very next day (19th March). Netflix announced the renewal of the series today for a second and final season which is slated for release next year (Channel 4 will not be returning to take part in the venture).
This series released quietly but it has been a huge hit around the world, especially among the members of the LGBTQ community. The series focuses on a young gay woman (the primary protagonist) as she deals with her past demons and living in a (heterosexual) man’s world. Mae Martin plays a character named Mae Martin (a semi-fictional version of herself) in this six part series, which is somewhat of a semi-autobiography.
Follow Mae, a Canadian standup comedian living in London, UK. She meets a repressed middle-class English woman named George, who frequents the comedy club where Mae performs at. They both hit it off and start dating, and they slowly start unravelling each others’ can of worms – Mae is a former drug addict while George struggles to talk to her friends and family about her relationship with Mae.
Mae Martin made the announcement on multiple social media platforms through the page “The Most” (on Twitter and Instagram). She gave the announcement from the set of the show, where the filming of the second season was taking place and she expressed her excitement for the release of the aforementioned season.
