‘Maha Samudram’ OTT Rights Acquired by This Platform

The Telugu language romantic action movie ‘Maha Samudram’ is slated for a theatrical release on 14th October 2021 during the Dussehra festival. The film features Sharwanand, Siddharth, Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead roles and is directed by Ajay Bhupathi. Besides Aditi Rao Hydari, the film also features Anu Emmanuel as the female lead actress.

And as per the latest buzz, the post-theatrical release digital rights for ‘Maha Samudram’ have been acquired by the OTT giant Netflix. Although it is yet to be officially confirmed by the makers. In case the rumor mills turn out to be true, this would not be the first time Netflix will become home to a Telugu language film. Because previously too, the popular streaming platform had bagged another Telugu language movie namely Nani‘s ‘Shyam Singha Roy’. This was the first major biggie for Netflix in Telugu.

The filming for ‘Maha Samudram’ had commenced in December 2020 and was concluded in July 2021. Initially scheduled for a theatrical release on 9th August 2021, the film reportedly got postponed to 14th October owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ever since the film was announced, it has consistently been the talk of the town amongst cinema enthusiasts.

Just a few days back, the trailer of ‘Maha Samudram’ was released to rousing response and the same has already crossed a whopping 73 lakh views in a short period of time. The trailer had struck the right chord with the viewers. Even ‘Baahubali’ star Prabhas had appreciated the film’s trailer and called it intense and intriguing. It remains to be seen whether or not will ‘Maha Samudram’ be able to impress the audiences after its release in the same way it has done with its trailer.
