Prime Video launched the first teaser for its upcoming Original film, ‘Mahaan‘. The Tamil film has skipped theatres to opt for a direct to digital release on Prime Video. Mahaan has been one of the most anticipated films of recent times. The teaser for Mahaan launched today will have amped up the excitement even more. Mahaan premieres on Prime Video on February 10, 2022.
The excitement for Mahaan is partly due to the fact that it stars popular Tamil star Chiyaan Vikram in the lead. But more significantly, Mahaan will be the first time ever that real-life father-son pair Chiyaan and Dhruv Vikram will be seen on screen together. The duo is playing father and son in Mahaan too. Fans of the two stars hoped to watch the duo’s first film together on the big screen, but fate and Covid-19 had other plans.
Interestingly, the Mahaan teaser only focuses on Chiyaan Vikram’s character. It shows just a fleeting glimpse of Dhruv Vikram, and that too only towards the end. The teaser depicts how Chiyaan Vikram’s character sticks to idealistic principles in deference to his father’s wishes. As per the plot, it is this fierce obsession to stick to Gandhian principles that drives Chiyaan Vikram’s character away from his family. The teaser for Mahaan focuses on this aspect of the film.
Amidst all the happenings, he misses the closeness with his son the most. Will he get a second chance to be a good father to his son? Mahaan is a narrative of a series of unexpected events that transform the whole life of an ordinary man as well as the people around him.
Mahaan has been written and directed by Tamil filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj, and produced by Lalit Kumar under the banner of Seven Screen Studio. Santhosh Narayanan has scored the music of Mahaan. Mahaan stars Vikram, Dhruv Vikram, Bobby Simha and Simran in pivotal roles.
Mahaan will release on Prime Video in the original Tamil language version, along with Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada dubbed versions. The Kannada version is titled as ‘Maha Purusha’.
