The much-awaited OTT release of this film will be anytime soon. Making a comeback after a hiatus of one and a half years, Mahesh Babu’s action-packed Telugu film ‘Guntur Kaaram’ hit theaters worldwide on January 12, 2024. Directed by Trivikram Srinivas and produced by S. Radha Krishna for Haarika and Hassinee Creations, the movie received mixed reviews.
Starring Mahesh Babu, Sreeleela, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Ramya Krishnan, Prakash Raj, the film was initially slated for release on January 13, 2024, but premiered a day earlier. Netflix secured the digital distribution rights, while Gemini TC acquired the satellite rights.
The storyline revolves around the protagonist exposing illicit activities in the city with a journalist. Despite high anticipation, ‘Guntur Kaaram’ faced a box office struggle, contending with Teja Sajja’s ‘HanuMan.’ Despite an impressive start, Mahesh Babu’s film declined at the box office in the subsequent days, allowing ‘HanuMan’ to claim a significant number of screens in both domestic and overseas markets.
Critics criticized Trivikram’s direction, the predictable plot, and Thaman’s musical score, but Mahesh Babu’s performance received praise. ‘Guntur Kaaram’ will be available on Netflix from February 9 in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
