Just like every week, Netflix released the list of most-watched titles on its platform. Last week Sakshi Tanwar’s Mai released on Netflix which was an original series by the platform. Needless to say that a new title is certain to gain decent views and sneak into the Netflix top 10.
So happened and the revenge drama indeed found a place in Netflix India’s top 10 most-watched TV shows and that too on the number one spot. Sadly it missed finding a place in the global list of most-watched shows but that is a very rare feat for any Indian series.
As you can see, Mai: A Mother’s Rage Season 1 is on the top spot but is also the only Indian title on the list. This is a true reflection of Netflix India’s pathetic performance in original Indian shows which is not only scant in numbers but also hollow in quality.
India is one of the biggest producers and consumers of entertainment content in the world and indeed has a far greater potential than what is being utilised currently.
Thus it’s high time they should look into this matter and come up with more Indian series which get celebrated all across the globe. Because of the kind of cold response Mai is getting, it will soon fall off from the top position it is currently throning.
