There are so many interesting aspects in the eventful and inspirational life of Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and a biopic feature film based on the legendary BJP leader, politician, three-time former Prime Minister and the brilliant orator was long due. There is just around a month left for the movie titled ‘Main Atal Hoon’, based on his life and career, to be released in theatres on 19th January 2024. Just a few minutes back, the film’s official trailer was unveiled starring Pankaj Tripathi in the titular role. Let’s see what it tells us about the upcoming film.
‘Main Atal Hoon’ trailer starts off with Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee dealing with the Kargil war situation and then goes into flashback mode when the former PM was a young leader and how he criticized Article 370 amongst other important events. It also gives the viewers a sneak-peek into the formation of the BJP and how the charismatic leader tries to overcome various obstacles for the betterment of the country.
Pankaj Tripathi is an accomplished actor and tries hard to speak like Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the trailer. The attempt to emulate his popular accent and modulate his voice in accordance with the style of speaking is earnest and looks better than what we saw in the teaser. It looks like the ‘Mirzapur’ actor has got the body language and overall getup of the visionary leader right.
It is obvious that the actor has worked quite hard for the role. We think when an actor steps into the shoes of a real and well-known person, sometimes it is not necessary to exactly copy that person’s mannerisms. Remember how Rajit Kapur adeptly essayed the role based on Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi without copying his exact mannerisms. But his role in ‘Main Atal Hoon’ would certainly be Pankaj Tripathi’s biggest test of his career as an actor.
Another good thing about ‘Main Atal Hoon’ is that it has been directed by Ravi Jadhav, whose directorial filmography comprise Sushmita Sen’s web series ‘Taali’ besides some critically acclaimed Marathi films such as ‘Natarang’ and ‘Balgandharva’.
