Adivi Sesh’s bi-lingual film ‘Major’ received accolades galore when it released in theatres in June. The film is a biopic on Indian Army braveheart, Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, a part of the elite 51 Special Action Group of the National Security Guards. Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan laid down his life while fighting heavily armed terrorists during the November 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks.
Major did excellent business in theatres, becoming the highest-grossing film of Adivi Sesh’s career. Telugu movie star Mahesh Babu is one of the producers of Major, under his production banner, GMB Entertainment. Sony Pictures International Productions, and Adivi Sesh‘s A+S Movies are the other two producers of Major.
After wowing audiences in theatres, the film is all set to premiere on OTT soon. The post-theatrical streaming rights for Major were bought by streaming behemoth, Netflix. Major will stream soon, only on Netflix.
Netflix announced the ‘Major’ OTT release date this morning. The film will premiere on Netflix on July 3, in Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam. There’s no word on the Tamil or Kannada versions of Major on Netflix yet.
Major is directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka. It stars Adivi Sesh in the titular role of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan. The film also stars Prakash Raj, Sobhita Dhulipala, Saiee Manjrekar, Revathi, Murali Sharma and Anish Kuruvilla in prominent roles. Adivi Sesh underwent an astonishing transformation to look uncannily like the late Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan in the film. Those who’ve seen Major at the theatres cannot stop praising the action scenes with the terrorists at the Taj Mahal Hotel, Mumbai.
