Diehard cinephiles might already be aware that the globally renowned entertainment portal IMDb prepares a huge list, that comprises the top 250 movies from around the world on the basis of their IMDb ratings, as per a certain criterion.
A recent entrant to the coveted list is none other than Jeethu Joseph’s brilliantly crafted Mohanlal starrer film ‘Drishyam 2’, which is a sequel to the 2013 Malayalam mystery thriller film ‘Drishyam’. ‘Drishyam 2’ was released on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform in the month of February earlier this year.
In doing that, ‘Drishyam 2’ has become the only Indian film released in the year 2021 to be included in the aforementioned IMDb top rated movies international list and currently holds 250th rank on the IMDb list.
Like its parent film, ‘Drishyam 2’ was helmed by Jeethu Joseph and featured veteran actor Mohanlal alongside Meena, Ansiba Hassan, and Esther Anil in important roles. The sequel film is set six years after the events of ‘Drishyam’. Georgekutty’s family is still living under the fear of the impending consequences of the police investigation for the senior cop’s missing son. When the investigation comes back again to haunt his family, how the protagonist tries to deal with the situation to protect his family, forms the film’s plot.
It has taken the widely admired film ‘Drishyam 2’ almost nine months to achieve the rare feat of being included in the IMDb top 250 movies international list. Besides ‘Drishyam’ and ‘Drishyam 2’, the superhit actor-director duo of Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph has also collaborated for their upcoming mystery thriller movie titled ‘12th Man’ and action thriller film ‘Ram’.
