One more Malayalam movie to add to your wishlist. The family drama ‘Janaki Jaane’, written and directed by Aniesh Upaasana, is going to premiere on OTT soon. It had its theatrical release on the 12th of May this year and will be streaming on Disney+Hotstar from the 11th of July.
The film tells the story of Janaki, a small-town girl who suffers from panic attacks every now and then and tries to avoid getting married. She fears the darkness or being alone in confined or even open spaces. She is always accompanied by her mother or any friend. Things get a bit difficult, when a boy named Unni Mukundan expresses his desire to marry him. They eventually get married but her fears become a huge hurdle to be overcome by both the husband and the wife. Her disease is mocked at and used for opportunistic purposes by political parties that are against Unni Mukundan’s party.
The Cast includes well known faces like Saiju Kurup, Navya Nair, Johny Antony, Sharafudeen, Kottayam Nazeer, Anarkali Marikar, George Kora and more. The music of the film is given by Kailas Menon and Sibi Mathew Alex.There is a 90s world feel to the movie and it is quite good for a family watch. Janaki Jaane has received mixed responses from critics at the time of its release but audiences lauded the movie.
