Malayalam film ‘Kumari’ received a lot of love and accolades from audiences and critics alike, when it released in theatres on October 28. The Aishwarya Lekshmi starrer tells a story steeped in folk lore, with a hint of horror and suspense thrown into the mix. Though ‘Kumari’ was appreciated for its story, picturisation, visual beauty and performances, the film failed to set the cash registers ringing at the box office.
Now that the theatrical run of ‘Kumari’ is all but over, it’s time for the film to release on streaming. We at Binged have got you confirmed information on the ‘Kumari’ OTT release date and platform. Streaming giant Netflix has bought the post-theatrical streaming rights for ‘Kumari’. Hence, the film will stream only on Netflix, and on no other platform.
In a bit of good news for film buffs, ‘Kumari’ will stream on Netflix on 18th November, which is this Friday itself. This means that the film will arrive on streaming only after three weeks of its theatrical release, much earlier than the standard four weeks exclusive theatrical window followed by South cinema films.
‘Kumari’ is written and directed by Nirmal Sahadev. The film features Aishwarya Lekshmi in the titular role. Shine Tom Chacko plays her husband in the film. Kumari also features Swasika Vijay and Giju John, along with National Award winning actress Surabhi Lakshmi in a completely new avatar. ‘Kumari’ is produced by Giju John, Nirmal Sahadev, Sreejith Sarang and Jakes Bejoy under the banner The Fresh Lime Sodas. It is distributed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, under his banner Prithviraj Productions.
Kumari premieres on Netflix on November 18th. Have a look at the trailer of the movie here –
