Malayalam film ‘Roy’ has been in the making since a couple of years. It was first announced in mid 2020, and was planned as a theatrical release. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic played havoc with its release plans. The Malayalam film is now ready for release. Interestingly, the makers of ‘Roy’ have ditched their plan for releasing the film in the theatres, and have opted for a direct digital release for the film. ‘Roy’ will premiere directly on OTT, on SonyLIV. ‘Roy’ OTT release date is 9th December on SonyLIV.
‘Roy’ is a psychological and mystery thriller, revolving around the eerie disappearance of a couple of people, seemingly unrelated. Suraj Venjaramoodu plays the titular character of Roy in the film. He is different – going by the trailer, he seems to have psychic powers or some kind of special ability. One fine day, his journalist wife Teena disappears into thin air, just like her favourite writer, Rajagopalan, who too had disappeared several days ago. Will Roy be able to find Teena before it’s too late?
‘Roy’ is written and directed by Sunil Ibrahim. It stars Suraj Venjaramoodu, along with Shine Tom Chacko and Sija Rose in the lead roles. Jins Baskar, Rony David, Sreeraman, Ria Saira, among others, make up the rest of the supporting cast.
