Proficient Malayalam filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan is all set to make his Hindi movie directorial debut with an intriguing film project titled ‘Phantom Hospital’. As the title suggests, the underlying premise of the film would be related to the healthcare sector in India.
The film is reportedly being produced by Priti Shahani, who had previously backed films such as the hard-hitting drama ‘Talvar’, adorable rom-com ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’, and the intense spy drama ‘Raazi’. For the upcoming film project, the filmmaker has collaborated with eminent investigative journalist and author Josy Joseph. So, the upcoming film would also mark the unique creative collaboration between Priti Shahani’s newly instituted Tusk Tale Films and Josy Joseph’s Confluence Media.
‘Phantom Hospital’ is being touted as an unusual thriller that would purportedly revolve around a scam in the healthcare sector in India. Regarding the upcoming film, Priti Shahani had said that “All of us have been victims of it unknowingly, and through this film, we hope to wake up the audience to a new reality.”
Mahesh Narayanan, who has helmed films like ‘C U Soon’ and ‘Malik’, both featuring Fahadh Faasil, had said that regarding the premise of ‘Phantom Hospital’ he was drawn to the story that is inspired by true events from the Indian healthcare sector. Narayanan has also co-written the film’s script alongside Akash Mohimen.
Furthermore, Josy Joseph opined that true stories are much more dramatic in nature than what a writer can imagine, and he seemed confident about his cinematic association with producer Priti Shahani and director Mahesh Narayanan for ‘Phantom Hospital’.
Considering the trio’s previous repertoire of work in their respective fields and taking into account the sensitive premise of ‘Phantom Hospital’, the creative synergy between Mahesh Narayanan, Preeti Sahani, and Josy Joseph is bound to create a significant impact on film industry enthusiasts.
Previously, Indian filmmakers have attempted films and shows based on the medical/healthcare sector and those include ‘Ankur Arora Murder Case’, ‘Sanjivani’, and ‘Laakhon Mein Ek’, to name a few.
