Mammootty’s Psychological Thriller ‘Rorschach’ OTT Rights Sold!

Mollywood Megastar Mammootty‘s psychological action thriller film ‘Rorschach‘ is one of the most anticipated films in Malayalam cinema and the buzz amongst fans is quite evident on social media. Showcasing the actor in a new avatar, the movie also stars Grace Anthony, Sharafuddin, Bindu Panicker, and Jagadish amongst others.

The posters and the trailer of the movie were well received and have taken the type to new levels. The poster showing the actor in the premise of the infamous white room torture has further increased curiosity and excitement. The team has recently announced the release date and the film is slated to release on October 7th, 2022. Now in the latest development, the post-theatrical streaming rights of ‘Rorschach’ have been bought by OTT biggie Disney+ Hotstar.

Mammootty is basking in the successes of the critically acclaimed direct-to-OTT film ‘Puzhu’ and the theatrical blockbuster ‘Bheeshma Parvam’, the latter too streaming on Hotstar at the moment. The 3 time National Award-winning actor at 71 is still at the top of his game both as a performer and a star. His ability to balance his star power and acting chops hand in hand and do both art films and commercial blockbusters within a gap of a few months is something not many stars can boast of.

‘Rorschach’ is directed by Nisam Basheer and written by Sameer Abdul, starring Mammootty in the lead role. It is the second directorial of Nisam Basheer, after ‘Kettyolaanu Ente Malakha’. The film is produced by Mammootty under his own banner Mammootty Kampany and is being distributed by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films.

The movie is said to be unlike any movie ever seen in Malayalam cinema. It feels interesting considering one of the biggest stars of his time has decided to support such an experimental film. Going by the talks surrounding the film and the story, it seems ‘Rorschach’ will be a film that will cater equally to the tastes of both the theatre-going audience and the streaming audience.
