‘Manjummel Boys’, the sensational Malayalam thriller that has been winning hearts of viewers across the cinematic landscape has added a new feather in its cap. The film has crossed the 100 Cr mark. Chidambaram, the director of this hearty thriller, took to his social media handles and announced the film’s collection to be the “ Fastest 100 Crore worldwide gross in the history of Mollywood.”
He expressed his gratitude towards the audience across the world. Keeping in mind the limited distribution a regional film gets in a country like India, ‘Manjummel Boys’ has created history by allowing the huge sum in a span of merely 13 days. The film released on 22nd February.
Critics across languages and industries have been appreciating the film. It must be noted that the pace with which the film has been minting money across the worldwide box office, it is a matter of maybe days or hours that the film will surpass Tovino Thomas’s 2023 film ‘ 2018: Everyone is a Hero’.
Directed by Chidambaram, ‘Manjummel Boys’ stars Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Soubin Shahir, and Jean Paul Lal in pivotal roles. The film follows the real life incident of an accident that took place with a youth from Ernakulam named Subhash ( portrayed by Sreenath) when he was vacationing with a bunch of friends at the Guna Caves in Kodaikanal. The Caves became a popular spot after Kamal Hasan shot his 1991 film ‘Guna’ there. The film showcases how Subhash’s friends and a team of first hand responders succeeded in saving his life. Incidentally this rescue operation to this date remains the only successful one to be conducted.
‘Manjummel Boys’ is a phenomenal work by Chidambaram and has a high repeat watch value. The film is a must watch and a genuinely good additional to the existing survival genre film.
