Mank: The Story of the Man Who Brought Us ‘Citizen Kane’

‘Mank’ takes us on a unique view of Hollywood of the 1930s, through the eyes of J Mackiewicz who shot to fame because of his acclaimed Citizen Kane’.

J Mackiewicz was also known to be a scathing social critic and an alcoholic who had to fight his demons from a very young age. Mank, therefore, would not only look to shed light upon his tumultuous inner journey but also the underlying nature of things in the industry from a unique insider perspective.

Mank is directed by none other than David Fincher and can boast of a stellar cast which includes the likes of Amanda Seyfried and academy award winner Gary Oldman. Apart from them, the music score is produced by Trent Reznor and Atticus Rose. The project is based on a screenplay written by the late Jack Fincher who was the father of David Fincher and also a journalist, essayist and writer who primarily specialised in Science for the Life Magazine. One can thus state that there is a very personal attachment to this very project for David. Though it may be too early to predict, it looks like a project that has all the settings and ingredients to be a fantastic cinematic marvel.

Mank also aspires to be the perfect portrayal of how power, influence and fame can get to your head and leave you quite hollow and unhappy from within despite the preconceived notion that it brings you a lot of comfort and joy.

Mank will be available in select theatres and Netflix on 4th December.
