Celebrating 100 billion watch minutes for Manoj Bajpayee’s last year’s super hit direct-to-digital release ‘Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai’, Zee5 has today announced the world digital premiere for Bajpayee’s 100th film ‘Bhaiyaaji’.
‘Bhaiyya ji’ reunites Manoj Bajpayee with his ‘Bandaa’ director Apoorv Singh Karki whose work credits also include web series like ‘Aspirants’, ‘Saas Bahu Achaar’ and ‘Flames’.
An action thriller film ‘Bhaiyaaji’ follows the eponymous retired and feared criminal, played by Manoj Bajpayee, who embarks on a quest for justice against the influential Gujjar who is responsible for the unfortunate death of his younger brother during a small argument. He gathers his faithful associates and sparks a movement of revenge that poses a threat to the entire criminal world. Directed by Apoorva Singh Karki who has co-written the film with Deepak Kingrani, ‘Bhaiyaaji’ stars Manoj Bajpayee, Zoya Hussain, Suvinder Vicky, Jatin Goswami, Vipin Sharma, Bhageerathi Bai Kadam, Abhishek Ranjan and Acharya Anant among others.
While Bajpayee and Karki’s ‘Bandaa’ was a blockbuster and such was its success that it released theatrically post its digital premiere, they failed to recreate the magic in ‘Bhaiyaaji’ despite Manoj Bajpayee’s massy performance. The story is predictable and seems to be riding on two boats with one leg trying to pull a desi action entertainer while the other trying to portray realistic, relatable character; ultimately falling between the two.
