Marathi film ‘Ved’ proved to be a legit blockbuster for the Marathi film industry. The film has become the third highest-grossing Marathi movie of all time. ‘Ved’ marks the directorial debut of Riteish Deshmukh, who is also the producer and lead star of the film.
Those who missed watching ‘Ved’ in the theatres, here’s some good news. The romantic drama is now gearing up for its OTT release date on Disney Plus Hotstar. ‘Ved’ premieres on Disney Plus Hotstar on 28th April, 2023. The film released in theatres on 30th December, 2022; which means that the ‘Ved’ OTT release date comes 4 months after its theatrical release.
‘Ved’ stars Genelia D’Souza as the female lead. She is co-producer of Ved, along with Riteish Deshmukh. The real-life couple has produced the film under their production banner, Mumbai Film Company. Ved also features Jiya Shankar and Ashok Saraf in supporting roles. Incidentally, Ved is a remake of the 2019 Telugu film Majili, starring Samantha and Naga Chaitanya in lead roles.
The plot of Ved revolves around Satya Jadhav (played by Riteish Deshmukh), who dreams of playing cricket for the Indian national team and falls in love with Nisha (played by Jiya Shankar). Fate and politics separate him from the love of his life, and he takes to drinking to forget Nisha. He even gives up his cricket ambitions. His neighbour Shravani (Genelia D’Souza), who loves him since forever, gets married to Satya, in the hope that he’ll forget his pain. But the now-drunkard Satya still pines for Nisha.
Apart from the superb performances of the leads, Ved also hit headlines due to the cameo appearance by Bollywood star Salman Khan, who’s grooved to hit song ‘Ved Lavlay’ in the film. Ajay-Atul have composed the music of Ved.
