The Marathi movie Daagadi Chawl 2 will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 16th of September. It is directed by Chandrakant Kanse and has a strong cast with Makrand Deshpande, Ankush Chaudhari, Nitin Bodhare, Neha Bam and others. It has a wonderful rating of 8.4 in IMDB despite being not so widely accepted at the time of release.
Daagadi Chawl 2 released on 18th of August this year and it is the sequel to the 2015 hit film Daagadi Chawl. The first installment was received with much applause from audiences as well as critics. But Daagadi Chawl 2 did not do well in theaters.
The crime drama revolves around the residents of Daagadi Chawl, a notorious slum in Mumbai and tells the story of how they attempt to rebuild after the destruction of their homes. Makrand Deshpande plays ‘Daddy’ in this gritty thriller and there is a huge political conflict disturbing the lives of the locals.
Daisy Shah debuts in the Marathi film industry with this movie and the reviews give a hope that there will be more views as the movie streams online on Amazon Prime Video. The response to the theatrical release does not have much to do with the viewership in the OTT platforms. Marathi film industry is doing well in the past few years and this movie can be a good example of regional movies that are critically accepted with great ratings.
