Margot Robbie has been one of the most important pillars of the present and the future of Hollywood, as she played crucial roles throughout the years. Her association with DC gave the franchise a boost in terms of reliability.
In terms of sheer acting capabilities, she didn’t let DC down, as her portrayal of Harley has been a crucial aspect of the DC extended universe. Featured in titles like Birds Of Prey and Suicide Squad, both of them had a successful box office run. However, as DC is currently facing challenges, Robbie willingly avoids her association with the universe.
During a recent interview, she was asked about her future plans for Harley Quinn, and Robbie practically lets her character rest.
“I always wanted Harley to be a character that would get passed on to other actresses to play, the way there are so many iconic male characters. That was always the dream for her.”
Later, she adds, “Harley’s so fun and can go in so many different directions. You put her in someone else’s hands, and it’s like, ‘What are they going to do with her?’ The options are endless.”
Now, she isn’t wrong about the character, as Harley is one such name that can carry the essence of various actors. Even in animated versions, all voices had their own signature traits, and Harley adapted to all of them.
Indeed, it is an intelligent way to avoid association with the universe, as both of them need some breath of fresh air. With DC undergoing a reboot phase (again!), Robbie might benefit from such separations.
